Fuel prices rise, especially diesel, coinciding with the halving of the excise duty cut (from 12.2 to 6.1 cents). Today’s increase also affects petrol but for diesel it is lower than the tax increase.
Average prices of the Mimit Observatory
Based on the latest data collected by the Mimit fuel price observatory, the average self-service price along the road network is 2.158 euros per liter for petrol and 2.357 euros for diesel (yesterday 2.154 euros per liter for petrol and 2.338 euros per liter for diesel). On the motorway network, however, the average self-service price is 2.252 euros per liter for petrol and 2.439 euros per liter for diesel (yesterday 2.247 euros per liter for petrol and 2.421 euros per liter for diesel).
Tajani: «Other companies follow Eni»
«I hope that other companies follow Eni. The choice to put a cap on the price of energy is the right choice and demonstrates that much more can be achieved with dialogue and involvement than with a dirigiste and statist vision. The line I had suggested won: not taxes, but involvement.” This was claimed by the deputy prime minister, foreign minister and secretary of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of his visit to the “Village of legality” in Rome.

Just as the first intervention helped cover the costs of cutting excise duties, today another signal is being given. I hope that all other companies follow Eni’s example because the best way to make things work is through dialogue. In this way the markets are not frightened and the business world is involved in a strategy for growth: together, the government and private companies can give concrete answers to citizens.”
