This morning the Catania Regional Administrative Court discussed the appeal relating to the administrative elections of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, a step followed carefully also in Messina because the issue raised by the appellants concerns, in part, a common story: the failure of the South to collect signatures calls for the North for the lists presented to the administrative elections. The hearing concluded without adjournment. The outcome is expected by tomorrow.
The appeal concerns the elections that led to the election of Melangela Scolaro as head of the Municipality of Barcelona in May. But the administrative court’s decision is also being looked at with particular attention in Messina, where the vote confirmed Federico Basile as mayor.
In fact, two appeals are pending on the Messina case, to which a third is added, relating in particular to the First District. The issue is that of the signatures necessary for the presentation of the lists. South calls North would not have collected subscriptions for any of the lists presented in the two Municipalities. An issue that had already been discussed during the electoral campaign and which subsequently reached the administrative and judicial level.
