“In the absence of concrete answers and guarantees on the future of employment, we will implement, together with the workers, every initiative of mobilization and trade union struggle necessary to defend the 650 jobs of the former Abramo employees, now Konecta R. No job must be lost, no one must be left behind! We must once again generate that virtuous circle that allows us to secure the future of these 650 Calabrian families and pave the way for the stabilization of the entire call center sector which in Calabria they employ over 4000 people”. This is what we read in a joint note from the regional secretariat Slc Cgil Calabria with Fistel Cisl, Uilfpc Uil and Ugl Telecommunications.

“There is just under a week left until the convening, jointly requested by the trade unions, of a discussion table with the Calabria Region and the Konecta R company on the progress of the project for the digitization of health records. A cross-comparison – continues the note – which we have been asking for some time to definitively understand what the company relaunch plan that has been talked about for a few months now consists of and what role the Calabria Region will have to play. 650 Calabrian families have been waiting for months for so many issues to be resolved dissolved, December is upon us and the end of the social safety net is imminent, we will make the Calabria Region and the Konecta R company face their responsibilities but as usual the great absentee will be MiMIT. For months we have been waiting for the convening of the ministerial monitoring table, where are those Ministers who waved the banner of the Calabrian pilot project? That much celebrated innovative project, which was supposed to be the leader and example for the other Italian regions, why is it no longer supported with the risk of it failing? definitively?”

“Does the Ministry – continues the note – have anything to add on a tender made by IPZS four months after the agreement of 19 December, again in the field of digitalisation, without any guarantee for the Calabrian workers newly contracted by Konecta R? The CEO of Tim, as well as president of Asstel, a few days ago in the press spoke of possible 100 thousand redundancies in the call center industries in the coming years and identified the retraining of workers in the digitalisation of the public sector as a possible solution administration, we in Calabria have done it, shouldn’t it be the Ministry that supports its evolution? These – concludes the secretariat of Slc Cgil – are some of the questions that we will ask the Calabria Region and which we will subsequently send to the competent Ministries. The time of waiting is ending”.
