Deseasonalisation and the future of the young people of the archipelago. Two key concepts for Brand Eolie, which also reiterated them during the third press tour of 2026, which ended this morning. Over 20 Italian and foreign journalists moved between Lipari, Vulcano, Salina and Filicudi, meeting entrepreneurs, listening to local young people and discovering a cultural heritage that has its roots in the Neolithic.
“We have repeated the scheme of the other two press tours in May and July – explains Cecilia Fiordalisi, founding member of Brand Eolie – with visits to the companies of local excellence and to the places that tell the cultural history of our islands, with lunches and dinners in places that have joined our project which have seen moments of discussion with those who have been creating employment for decades and opportunities to remember family stories which have become tales of company life and excursions, such as the one to the Cratere di Vulcano, which have allowed us to experience amazing places, of unique beauty”.
Brand Eolie’s appeal to entrepreneurs dates back to last January. In just a few months, a network of over 120 local companies of excellence was created, employing more than 1,500 people. Two important shipping companies such as Liberty Lines and Caronte&Tourist have also joined this network, guaranteeing connections with the archipelago. Thus, in just 9 months, the constant attention to the world of press, radio and television and the promotion of the union between Aeolian Brands and the Aeolian Islands have generated over 80 million unique contacts certified as of 30 September, with the aim of reaching 100 million by the end of the year.
Convinced that the archipelago is not just sun, sea and good food, Brand Eolie also gives considerable importance to the valorisation of the local cultural heritage, which boasts one of the most important archaeological museums in the Mediterranean, two sanctuaries, ancient churches and a small jewel such as the Diocesan Museum. An exceptional guide acted as cicerone at the “Luigi Bernabò Brea” Museum: the director of the Archaeological Park of the Aeolian Islands Rosario Vilardo, who illustrated the most significant aspects of the museum structure, of the past and current excavation campaigns and of the cloister, of which he oversaw the restoration in the 1980s. Witness, that of Vilardo, then collected in Filicudi by the archaeologist Maria Clara Martinelli, who led the journalists first to the local section of the museum and then to the Neolithic village of Capo Graziano.
“All this – comments Andrea Corrieri, young president of Brand Eolie – obviously had a considerable cost”. The spotlight was turned on by the conference organized at the Gattopardo Park Hotel on 2 October on the theme “Aeolian Islands beyond the summer: stable work and trust for young Aeolian people”, which saw ten entrepreneurs and eight representatives of institutions and the political class discussing deseasonalisation and new opportunities for the young people of the Aeolian archipelago.
Closing the conference, Daniele Corrieri, event manager of Brand Eolie, reiterated a very clear concept: “For nine months we went it alone and we will continue to do so. Now the political class and the institutions must evaluate the value of all this and decide whether to support us in this extraordinary challenge that we have set ourselves, given that we have implemented what they have been talking about for decades. Obviously, entrepreneurs, young people and the territory do not want handouts or use this network to engage in politics: we all think in terms of objectives and this morning we were very clear about what those of the entrepreneurs and the kids are. Now the ball is in your court.”
