A request for over 4.3 million euros for electricity invoices relating to the two-year period 2023-2024 and a further claim of approximately 1.5 million, in addition to interest, made by the subsequent service manager. This is the picture outlined by the mayor of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Melangela Scolaro, who announced the start of checks on the sums recently requested from the Municipality, already dealing with a highly compromised financial situation. Overall, the credit claims reach almost 5.9 million euros, a figure that could further impact the institution’s chances of reorganizing.
The issue was at the center of a meeting with the managers of Enel Energia Spa. As communicated by the first citizen, in fact, the company has ordered the Municipality to pay 4,379,263 euros within seven days, with a warning notified through the registered note 63334 of 23 October 2026. The administration now intends to fully verify the validity of the request and reconstruct the origin of the debt. According to what Scolaro reported, the sum initially claimed by Enel would have been significantly lower, amounting, according to an initial reconstruction yet to be confirmed, around 600 thousand euros.
