Flávio Bolsonaro has left Brazil and is flying to the United States. The Brazilian website Metrópoles reports this, citing people close to the family; the news was also confirmed by Folha de S.Paulo, again based on family sources. The flight is expected to land within a few hours.

According to CNN Brasil, the senator’s wife and their two daughters are also on board. The sources cited by Folha report that the plan would have been organized and facilitated by a lawyer close to the family. Flávio’s last message, writes Metrópoles, was sent at 8 in the morning to his collaborator Rogério Marinho.

The yellow of the departure

It remains to be clarified where he started from. According to CNN Brasil, it is suspected that Flávio’s name on the passenger list of a plane parked in Puerto Iguazú was used to mislead investigators at the place of departure: according to some sources, the senator left from another Argentine city.

The precedent of his brother Eduardo

His brother Eduardo Bolsonaro, a former deputy, has also been living in the United States since February 2025. He has an arrest warrant issued when he was still a parliamentarian by Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes. In June 2026 the first section of the Supreme Court definitively sentenced him to 4 years and 2 months of imprisonment for coercion during the proceedings (article 344 of the Criminal Code). According to the judges, Eduardo used his role to urge US economic sanctions against Brazilian authorities and economic sectors, in an attempt to influence the trials against his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro.

Today he lives in Southlake, Texas, with his wife Heloísa, in a villa with a pool of approximately 424 square meters, valued at around 6 million reals (about 1.22 million dollars).

The challenge of the Italian passport

On October 11, after Brazilian justice had revoked his national passports and started the execution of the sentence, Eduardo showed an Italian passport in a video on social media, challenging Moraes to ask the authorities in Rome for it to be cancelled. In the message, accompanied by an insult, he invited the magistrate to send the arrest warrant to Italy and questioned the possibility of being extradited. He also challenged the Brazilian federal police, where he was an agent before being expelled, to join him in Dallas, Texas, where he said he lived.
