Students and farmers marched together this morning through the streets of Crotone to protest against the serious economic crisis that is gripping the entire country and which in Calabria has already resulted in protests by lorry drivers and farmers in recent weeks. The demonstration, called by the basic trade union union and which saw the participation of political forces, associations and student committees, saw the participation of around five hundred people who gathered in Piazzale Nettuno and gave life to a procession led by the tractors of some Crotone farmers’ associations, who were also dissatisfied with the outcome of the meeting held in recent days in Rome with government representatives. Students held up placards to demonstrate their dissent against economic policies, asking for less money for weapons and more money for schools. The procession finally landed in Piazza della Resistenza, under the municipal building, where both representatives of the agricultural associations and student representatives spoke. The mayor of Crotone Vincenzo Voce was challenged and his speeches were prevented by the demonstrators.
Demonstration also in Vibo where students walked the streets of the city center with banners and signs.
