«The 39.3% growth in Sicilian industrial added value between 2015 and 2024, higher than the national average, represents a significant signal of the potential of our production system. It is a fact that encourages us, but which also reminds us of a specific responsibility: to transform this growth into widespread development, new opportunities for businesses and stable employment.” This was declared by the regional councilor for Productive Activities, Edy Tamajo, commenting on the data of the Act Tank Sicilia 2026 Report by TEHA Group – The European House Ambrosetti, at the center of the Forum scheduled today, 29 October, at Castello Utveggio, in Palermo.

Tamajo will be among the protagonists of the afternoon session, speaking from 2.35pm on the panel entitled “Global vision, local impact: stories of multinationals who believe in Italy and its territories”, dedicated to the role of large investments in the development of local economies.

«Sicily is demonstrating that it has important industrial capabilities, especially in strategic sectors such as microelectronics. The territory of Catania, which concentrates 26.8% of the regional industrial added value, represents an example of the potential of our economy. But we must work to ensure that this growth does not remain limited to some local areas and progressively involves the entire productive fabric of the island.”

For Tamajo, the central issue concerns the strengthening of industrial supply chains and the relationship between large investments and small and medium-sized enterprises.

«It is not enough to attract large industrial groups. It is necessary to build around these investments a network of Sicilian companies capable of participating in production, developing skills and generating added value in the territory. Large industries must also represent an opportunity for smaller companies, for artisans, for young professionals and for those who want to invest in our land.” «As the Department of Productive Activities we intend to systematize all the resources of European programming, directing them towards concrete objectives: supporting research, innovation, digitalisation, the competitiveness of companies and the strengthening of production chains. We do not want to limit ourselves to financing individual projects, but to contribute to the construction of a more modern, competitive industrial system capable of creating qualified employment. European resources must become a tool for the structural transformation of our economy.” «Our goal is a Sicily in which industrial growth is not just an economic indicator, but becomes a concrete prospect for families and new generations. A Sicily capable not only of attracting investments, but also of retaining skills, creating qualified jobs and building solid production chains. Because the real challenge is not just to grow, but to ensure that this growth produces benefits for the entire Sicilian community”, concludes Tamajo.
