Lazio came from behind to beat Cagliari, 2-1, and take first place alone in the Serie A standings, with a three-point lead over Inter, who were defeated last night in the derby by Milan. At the Olimpico it was the goals from Isaksen and Pinamonti that made Gennaro Gattuso rejoice a week before the big match as a former player against Napoli at “Maradona”. Pisacane’s team – who ended the match with 10 men due to the red against Obert – suffered their second comeback defeat in the capital in the space of five days. Just like in the match against Roma, it is Nzola who deceives the Sardinians. In the 21st minute the Angolan striker took advantage of Fadera’s assist on Belahyane’s sleep and touched the ball just enough to wrong-foot Mandas. Lazio is the team with the highest conversion percentage (16.8%) and so, despite the difficulties in breaking through the Sardinian defensive line, it was the magic of a single that gave them the equalizer. In the 36th minute Noslin serves Isaksen who kicks first from the edge, directing the ball into the far top corner, where Caprile cannot reach.
At half-time Pisacane – who shortly before had been forced to replace the injured Fadera with Kofler – left Nzola in the locker room and brought on Mendy. In the 56th minute Gattuso changes the entire left chain: Nuno Tavares and Zaccagni out, Pedraza and Pinamonti in. Frattesi was also replaced, with Dele-Bashiru in in his place. It is the Nigerian midfielder who is left on the ground in the area due to a contact with Rodriguez which triggers protests from the Olimpico. For the referee Colombo everything is in order and the VAR confirms the pitch decision. Lazio revs up the engine and comes close to scoring in the 68th minute with a header from Provstgaard following a free kick from Taylor. In the 71st minute it was the Dutchman who snatched the 2-1 at the end of a prolonged collective action, while shortly after Isaksen came close to the far post after coming in from the right. The problems of Gattuso’s team were solved by Pinamonti’s second goal of the season, who headed Caprile after a lopsided shot by Pedraza. Protests from the Sardinians, as a Cagliari player was left on the ground after a ball on the head during the action. League leaders Lazio will visit Napoli next week. Gattuso and his men make a surprise bid to fight for the Scudetto victory.

Frosinone doesn’t stop and beats Torino 2-0 in the match valid for the tenth day of the championship. A goal in each half for the Ciociari, who scored their fourth consecutive useful result thanks to goals from Ghedjemis, his first goal of the season in Serie A, and Calò’s fourth goal in a row. Torino was not very dangerous and suffered from the ideas of Kvernadze and Ghedjemis from start to finish. The only discordant note of Frosinone’s great afternoon was Antonio Raimondo’s ankle injury, replaced in the 30th minute by Birligea. Alvini’s team rises to 20 points, in sixth position at +15 above the relegation zone, and will fly to Cagliari next day (7 November, 3.00 pm) on the last day before the national break. The streak of three victories for Abate’s Torino is interrupted, stuck in tenth place with 13 points, and in the next round (7 November, 3.00 pm) they will host Di Francesco’s Lecce. Alvini’s team immediately becomes dangerous with a high header from Monterisi, then Raimondo tries to take the lead, first with an overhead kick and then with a left-footed shot that ends wide. However, the attacker had to leave the field in the 30th minute due to a problem with his left ankle: Bîrligea came on in his place. Torino struggled to create opportunities, with Calvani attentive in closing on Simeone and Adams and Palmisani punctual in his exits on Aboukhlal. Thus we go into half-time without goals after two minutes of added time.

Frosinone proactive at the start of the second half and the lead comes in the 48th minute: Kvernadze aims and passes Vlasic, serves Ghedjemis, who slots it into the bottom corner, beating Perri for the yellow-blue 1-0. The teams get longer and the pace increases, but it is Alvini’s boys who become dangerous again. Perri’s clearance slip, Birligea recovers and unloads for Ghedjemis, who is unable to reach the net but is blocked by a providential Coco. Few chances created by Torino, with Abate sending in Oristanio and Duvan Zapata 20 minutes from the end, but Frosinone continued to manage and attack on the counterattack. First Calò and then Ghedjemis came close to making it 2-0, but Perri kept Torino upright with less than 10 minutes remaining. Calò tries to double the lead again, but the post blocks his right-footed shot from 25 meters to a beaten Perri. In the final, after several attempts on goal, Calò manages to come into his own and closes the score by scoring the 2-0 in the 93rd minute
