After the feat accomplished last summer (just over 3 kilometers) and the recent overtaking (4 kilometers) achieved, just a week ago, by Strongoli (Crotone), the record for the “Longest dive in the world” has returned to Roccella’s hands and to his registerThe new Guinness World Record was set by a veritable army of swimmers who gathered together and then, at the start of the mega event organizers, jumped into the water in perfect synchronicity, thus setting a new world record: 4 kilometers and 700 meters.
A very long human trail, this, which affected, from north to south of the town, a large part of the Roccella coast. An incredible, stupendous spectacle and view, with thousands and thousands of bathers of all ages along the shoreline ready to enter the water and, therefore, take back the record and the leadership of the event of the year organized by the Municipality of Roccella in collaboration, in particular, with the Coast Guard and the company “Porto delle Grazie”.
Almost, therefore, 5 kilometers of bathers of all ages, a human chain scattered along much of the Rocchellese beach. Four kilometers and 700 meters of fun, happiness, sharing, aggregation, and competition in a place that every year attracts, satisfies and makes thousands of tourists and vacationers fall in love: the splendid and crystalline waters of the Roccella Jonica sea, for 22 consecutive years – Calabria record – Blue Flag.
“A fantastic result that also contributes to the important and vital promotion of the territory and a new record obtained thanks to the thousands of people who made it possible. But also a special thanks to the Coast Guard and the company “Porto delle Grazie” for the collaboration and data support”, declared the president of the Roccellai City Council, Domenico Cartolano and the city councilor with responsibility for Sport, Fausto Certomà, irreplaceable organizer and director of the “Longest Dive in the World”.
The event was part of the rich program of the two-day “Notte Bianca di Roccella”, one of the main events of the city summer conceived and organized by the municipal administration. This latest edition also proved to be a huge success in terms of attendance, so much so that Roccella was literally taken by storm by thousands and thousands of people.
