A letter from Sciascia to Piccolo was found in the municipal archives of Naso

Return to establishing the “Città di Naso” poetry prize. The idea was launched after the exceptional discovery, at the Municipality, of a letter written in 1965 by Leonardo Sciascia to the poet Lucio Piccolo. The creator of the discovery was the scholar Antonino Pirrone, former professor of Harmony at the conservatories of Messina and Palermo and resident in Naso, husband of the famous Messina pianist Ata Virzì. «I remember a particularly happy period of civil life in Naso – says Pirrone -. It was the 60s of the last century and national painting and poetry prizes were organised. The economic growth of the entire nation encouraged optimism in adults and children. In 1965 and 1966, there were two editions of the “Città di Naso” national poetry prize, events that I have never forgotten.
