A man was placed under house arrest on charges of domestic abuse against his wife and minor daughters. The measure was carried out by the Flying Squad of the Crotone Police Headquarters at the end of an investigative activity coordinated by the Crotone Prosecutor’s Office.
The story began last July 22, when the woman turned to the State Police, reporting that she had long been the victim of repeated episodes of physical and psychological violence. According to what was reported to investigators, she suffered systematic attacks and continuous harassment by her husband.
The “Code Red” protocol has been activated
Upon receiving the report, the specialized “Crimes against the person” section of the Flying Squad immediately activated the procedures envisaged by the “Red Code”, starting investigations and preparing protection measures for the victim. The woman was transferred to a protected facility, where she was able to receive assistance and protection. The elements collected during the investigations, together with the statements of the offended person, were transmitted to the Prosecutor’s Office led by Prosecutor Domenico Guarascio, who requested a precautionary measure. The request was accepted by the judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Crotone, who ordered house arrest against the suspect. The measure was carried out by the Flying Squad officers.
The commitment against domestic violence
The operation is part of the strategy to combat crimes attributable to the “Red Code” promoted by the police commissioner of Crotone, Renato Panvino, and confirms the commitment of the State Police in preventing and combating domestic and gender violence, through timely interventions and coordination with the judicial authorities.
The State Police also reminds citizens of the possibility of using the YouPol application, which allows them to send reports, even anonymously, relating to incidents of mistreatment, gender violence, bullying and revenge porn.
