A serious road accident occurred today evening, just before 8pm, along State Road 18, at km 353, in the stretch between the municipalities of Nocera Terinese (Catanzaro) and Campora San Giovanni (Cosenza), in an area close to the border between the two provinces.
Three cars were involved in the accident: a BMW X3, a Nissan Qashqai and an Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The toll is two seriously injured, trapped inside the vehicles.
The fire brigade team from the Catanzaro Command – Lamezia Terme Detachment intervened on site, carrying out the operations of extracting the injured from the sheets of metal and subsequently handing them over to the healthcare personnel of SUEM 118, who arrived with ambulances from Lamezia Terme. The injured were then transferred to hospital for necessary treatment.
The firefighters also ensured the safety of the area affected by the accident. During the rescue operations, State Road 18 was temporarily closed to northbound traffic, with inevitable traffic disruptions.
The Carabinieri were also present at the site of the accident, carrying out investigations and carrying out their duties to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the collision.
