A weekend to be framed for the youth sector of the ACR Messina, who returns to smile thanks to two formations that have been able to transform the difficulties into fuel for glory. At the Sicily Football Cup 2025, the largest youth football event in Southern Italy, the under 15 and the under 17 white -blue under 17s conquered the top step of the podium, writing an indelible page in the history of the Peloritano club.
U15, the revenge of the heart: the jar is biancoscudata
For the 2010 lever, led by Mr. Santo Mazzullo, it was a complicated season, if not heroic. Abandoned by the company during the year, forced several times to take the field with reworked formations, until they abandon the pitch on three occasions for insufficient number of players, these guys have never stopped believing. After passing the Torregrotta in the semifinal, The young Messinesi dominated the final played at the Enzo Vasi stadium of Piraino, beating the Bulldog Vibo with a clear 3-0. At stake, the coveted ceramic giara of Santo Stefano di Camastra, a symbol of victory but above all of the redemption. A special mention goes to number 10, Gabriel Minardi, elected best player in the category, awarded with the trophy named after Manuel Puglisi’s memory, a young footballer tragically disappeared in a road accident. A recognition that knows of the future and hope.
U17, a ray of light after the darkness
But the boys of the 2008 lever were no less, the protagonists of a season between ups and downs in the U17 Serie C national championship, where they closed in the ninth place in group C. At the Sicily Football Cup, however, something has changed. The team coached by Giuseppe Presti found compactness, identity and cynicism.
In a fought final, played at the Merendino di Capo d’Orlando stadium, The Biancoscudati had the better of the Cypriot formation of the homony Nicosia, imposing themselves with the score of 2-1, thanks to the signatures of Greek and Calderone. A victory that completes a double success with a huge specific weight: not only on the field, but above all in the hearts and minds of the boys.
