Following the checks carried out in the provincial territory by the staff of the Administrative and Social Police Division of the Catanzaro Police Headquarters, the Police Commissioner ordered the suspension of the license issued pursuant to art. 88 of the Consolidated Law on Public Security (TULPS) and enabling the collection of bets on behalf of the State.
The provision of suspension of the activity for a period of seven days was notified to the owner of the business following the verification and investigations conducted by the Administrative Police Team in synergy with the Licensing Office, which made it possible to ascertain the administration of betting to a person under the age of eighteen, in violation of the provisions in force regarding the protection of minors.
The activity in question is part of the initiatives carried out by the State Police aimed at intensifying administrative police controls, aimed at protecting certain categories of more vulnerable subjects, such as minors, and at preventing forms of disorder from pathological gambling; initiatives, among other things, already strengthened starting from last June with the preparation, by the Catanzaro Police Commissioner, of the new Table of Prohibited Games.
From this perspective, the further control activity concluded with the imposition of an administrative fine of 5,000 euros against a private club which, in clear violation of the relevant legislation, provided food and drinks to individuals not registered in the list of members, is noteworthy. Inside the venue, 7 patrons present were also checked, of which 5 were found to have criminal or police records.
The attention of the State Police therefore remains high towards economic and commercial activities, with the aim of ensuring compliance with the rules, the protection of citizens and the protection of minors.
