The electoral circle has closed in the small municipalities of the Messina area called to the polls to elect mayor and city council.

For the Tyrrhenian area a Falcon the engineer Carmelo Paratore beat the insurer Pasquale Bucolo with a difference of about 200 votes. The former obtained 770 preferences against Bucolo's 575.

TO Oliveriinstead, the outgoing mayor Francesco Iarrera he was re-elected with 955 votes, against 547 Michele Pino. The turnout was under 60% with 1540 voters.

TO Condrò the elected mayor is Giuseppe Pietro Catanese who he beat with 214 votes Nunziatina Grimaldi.

TO Longi Calogero Lazzara defeated the outgoing mayor with 567 Antonino Fabio which totaled 464 votes.

In Leni the man of the people won. The mooring man Ireneo Giardinello he won the most important seat in the Municipality, beating the lawyer by just 15 votes Claudio Rugolo. A very close electoral competition, given the presence of a third candidate, Sergio Russo which in the end received only 44 preferences.

198 for Giardinello, while Rugolo stopped at 183. In the Council the new mayor will have the majority with 7 councillors, while three will be the representatives of the defeated mayoral candidate. Giardinello, 62 years old, a full-blooded islander, married and father of three children, boasts considerable political experience. For twenty years he has carried out political activity in the municipal building and in the last three council meetings he has been president of the council. He has already designated three councilors (Gaetano Lo Po, Michele Pettorino and Giuseppe Scaffidi, who will also hold the role of councillor) and will shortly complete the council with the pink quota. Visibly emotional, last night he thanked the islanders for their trust and the regional deputy Alessandro De Leo who – he said – “supported me in this electoral competition”.

Forza d'Agro

On the Ionian side, a Forza D'Agrothe outgoing mayor remains in office Bruno Miliadò, reconfirmed with 52.26% of the votes.
