Important victory for Ferdinando De Giorgi's Italvolley in the Nations League: after beating the United States, the Azzurri beat Cuba 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 25-13). Italy, with 18 total points, consolidates its second position in the ranking with 366.21 points, +125.12 from Cuba, the first non-qualified for the Olympic Games, out of the four useful places. Very important victory therefore, with one match still to be played in Canada and the four of week 3 in Slovenia before the end of the preliminary phase of VNL which will award the remaining passes for Paris 2024.
A victory not without difficulty for the Azzurri against a team, Cuba, which has played a good game in this VNL, as was also demonstrated by the progress of the first set, with the Azzurri doing well at recovering and leaving no room for the Caribbean, then capable of winning the second set thanks also to the shots of Yant, author of 16 points, best scorer among the Cubans. Among the Italians in evidence Michieletto, best scorer of the match with 16 points, followed by Lavia and Romanò with 15 and 14 respectively. Galassi made 5 blocks out of the team's 11 total, Michieletto made 3 aces out of the 6 total.
Tomorrow is a break day for the Azzurri who will return to the pitch on Sunday at 11am local time (5pm Italian time) for the last match of Week 2 in Ottawa against the Netherlands. The match will be broadcast on the DAZN platform and on VBTV.
