The safety and redevelopment works of the SP 161 and the SP 161/a branch have been delivered, an intervention financed with 4.2 million euros whose execution is expected to take approximately 13 months.

The start of construction sites involves four degraded sections and involves coordinated works to consolidate the slopes and containment structures, resurface the road, adapt the protective barriers and strengthen the drainage system in order to reduce the risk of subsidence and prevent water stagnation.

The timetable was defined in order to guarantee the continuity of circulation through temporary solutions in the most invasive phases, with the aim of containing inconvenience for residents, commuters and local economic operators.

The intervention aims not only to restore immediate safety conditions, but also to increase the resilience of the infrastructure in the medium and long term, protecting the hydrogeological balance of the territory and improving the quality of mobility for the Nebroid community, through a functional rebalancing of the route which favors the regularity of transit and improves the area’s response capacity to intense meteorological events.

The decision to proceed with coordinated work on several critical points reflects the Administration’s desire to operate in a systemic way, favoring long-lasting interventions compatible with the environmental and urban context.

The start of the infrastructural redevelopment will be constantly monitored in the various executive phases to ensure compliance with the scheduled times.

«The start of the works represents a concrete act by the metropolitan Administration in favor of the safety of the road network and the protection of the territory – declared the metropolitan mayor Federico Basile – and our objective is to proceed, within the expected timescales, with the consolidation of the road infrastructure and the restoration of travel conditions on a route of importance for the Nebroid community».
