Hundreds of users from all over the Upper Ionian area of Cosenza and numerous cardiological tests carried out: this is the end-of-year balance of the TeleSalute project, promoted by the Pro Loco of Amendolara and dedicated to health prevention through telemedicine.

The project and the services offered

TeleSalute was financed by the Calabria Region with state funds from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, as part of the call for projects of local relevance in the third sector. The initiative was born with the aim of promoting cardiological prevention, overcoming obstacles linked to distances, costs and waiting times.

Over the months, ECG, blood pressure Holter and cardiac Holter were carried out completely free of charge, aimed at both adults and children.

Positive response from citizens

The telecardiology service, managed by Dr. Maria Luisa Gallotta and the biologist Filomena Paolino, recorded an immediate and positive response. Citizens appreciated the speed of consultations, the absence of queues and the possibility of accessing qualified specialists without having to travel long distances.

Collaboration and perspectives

The result confirms the commitment of the Pro Loco of Amendolara and the collaboration with the Municipality of Amendolara, partner of the project. “The feedback from citizens is the best recognition and pushes us to continue on this path”, declared President Girolamo Mitidieri, thanking the Calabria Region, the Municipality, healthcare workers and volunteers.

The objective, explains the Pro Loco, is now to maintain and expand local health services, responding to a concrete need in the area.
