Public lighting has been restored in the Rimessa district of San Ferdinando. This was announced by Mayor Gianluca Gaetano, who speaks of the definitive solution to a technical and administrative problem whose origins date back over twenty years ago.
“It’s not a matter of indulging easy enthusiasm but there is certainly great satisfaction,” says the mayor regarding the overcoming of the disservice which during the summer left several areas of one of the most recently urbanized districts of the center in darkness.
The affair had also become a political case, with a council question presented by part of the opposition. Gaetano then returns to the topic to reject the accusations of inertia leveled at the municipal administration.
The confrontation with Enel and the apologies to the residents
According to the mayor, the discovery of a “chronic disorder in the network” required dialogue with Enel, carried out by municipal staff and administrators. A problem, he specifies, that emerged this year and of which the administration was not aware.
«The tile that rained down on the Town Hall was not underestimated or kept quiet at all», claims Gaetano, thanking the staff and underlining that the discussion continued «avoiding any form of outcry», with the aim of arriving at a solution.
The mayor also clarifies that the outage affected public lighting and not homes: “It is fair to point out that there has never been a lack of electricity in the homes of that area.”
In reiterating his apologies to citizens and businesses, Gaetano expresses relief at the conclusion of the matter: “Finally we are able to say that an essential public service is guaranteed and that we can breathe a sigh of relief after many months of apprehension for a bad parenthesis that we had to manage with emergency logic.”
Finally, the mayor thanks the residents for the way in which they reported the difficulties: «The courtesy, education and dignity with which the citizens represented the problem to the mayor are to be commended. Thank you very much for this testimony of civilization that San Ferdinando can boast of.”
