One seat in the Chamber, four candidates and 71 Municipalities called to choose. Tomorrow and Monday we will vote for the supplementary elections in the single-member constituency U05-Reggio Calabria, where the place left by Francesco Cannizzaro after his election as mayor of the capital in the 2026 administrative elections remains to be assigned.
The polls will be open on Sunday from 7am to 11pm and on Monday from 7am to 3pm. The constituency includes 71 of the 97 municipalities in the metropolitan area, with 487 sections and 345,788 voters in total, of which 58,729 reside abroad. In addition to Reggio Calabria, it includes, among others, Villa San Giovanni, Scilla, Melito di Porto Salvo, Locri and Siderno.
The four candidates
The center-right supports Fabio Roscioli, lawyer and national director of Forza Italia. Francesco Antonio Benedetto, known as Frank, cardiologist and former municipal councilor of Reggio Calabria, runs for the center-left. Domenico Giannetta, regional councilor and former member of Forza Italia, is the candidate of Futuro Nazionale, the movement led by Roberto Vannacci, participating for the first time in elections with his own symbol. Francesco Toscano, president of Democrazia Sovrana Popolare and already candidate for the presidency of the Calabria Region, completes the race.
How to vote and who gets elected
To vote you must show up at the polling station with your voter card and a valid identity document. The names of the four candidates and their respective symbols are shown on the ballot paper. The person who collects the highest number of votes is elected: neither a run-off nor the achievement of an absolute majority is foreseen.
