Antonino Campanella from Messina, known as Gino Meat Broker, spoke on La Zanzara, Giuseppe Cruciani’s program broadcast on Radio 24, to contribute to the national debate on the bill presented by the Hon. Michela Vittoria Brambilla aimed at banning horse slaughter in Italy.

During the broadcast, Campanella represented the point of view of the entire meat supply chain, drawing attention to the economic, employment and cultural effects that such a provision could cause.

According to industry estimates, the meat supply chain in Italy generates a total economic value of around 40 billion euros per year and involves over 700,000 workers along the entire production chain: breeding, processing, logistics, distribution and catering.

Campanella, consultant and trainer specialized in the agri-food and livestock sector, is the founder of Meat Advisor, a platform dedicated to training, consultancy and dissemination for professionals in the meat sector.

In 2024 and 2025 it promoted the Meat Advisor Conventions, which registered a total of over 800 operators from all over Italy and abroad.

The meat supply chain represents a strategic component of the Italian economy. Horse meat, particularly in Sicily, Veneto and Puglia, is an integral part of a historical and consolidated gastronomic culture. The regulatory debate should be based on objective data and technical comparison with sector operators”.
