With regard to the recent news appearing in the local press regarding the municipal ordinance which requires the urgent felling of some unsafe trees in Via Sbarre Inferiori, the Territorial Company for Public Residential Building (Aterp) intends to clarify its position.
Following accurate documentary and technical checks, the results of which, since May 2023, have been transmitted, with various notes, to the Local Police and the Environment Sector of the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, to the Mayor of the City of Reggio Calabria, Aterp reiterates that it has no ownership or competence over the green area in question given that it does not appear to belong to the company’s assets but rather to the property of the Municipality as it was taken over in the minutes of 9 January 1962.
The area in question, in fact, is among those transferred to the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, since the 1960s, as part of the construction works of the road and urban network serving the “Ina Casa” popular residential complexes; transfer which involved the full takeover of the Municipality in the management, safety and maintenance of the areas involved.
In any case, as always, Aterp Calabria remains available for any form of institutional collaboration aimed at guaranteeing public safety; reiterates, however, the need for each body to operate within its own competences and responsibilities.
