As part of the national action plan called Oscar (Extraordinary Control, Accompaniment and Repatriation Operations for irregular immigrants), the Immigration Office of the Vibo Valentia Police Headquarters has implemented an expulsion order issued by the Supervisory Magistrate of Catanzaro, as an alternative measure to detention, against a Nigerian citizen, detained at the local prison and already sentenced with an irrevocable sentence for mafia-type association, with accompaniment to the border and subsequent repatriation.

In particular, he belonged to a foreign mafia-type criminal organization called “Black Axe” dedicated to carrying out computer fraud such as transnational “romance scams”, impersonation, possession of cloned credit cards and false passports, drug trafficking and illegal immigration.

Being irregular and with a criminal record, he was picked up by the police of the Vibo Valentia Police Headquarters and taken to the Rome Fiumicino air border. From here he embarked towards Nigeria, always escorted by policemen specialized in these operations, where, once there, he was taken into charge by the local authorities.

Since the beginning of 2025, 22 measures have been adopted against irregular foreigners present in the territory. Among these, 4 measures for the repatriation of irregular foreigners to their countries of origin, 8 voluntary departures following an expulsion order and 3 accompaniments to the various Permanence Centers for Repatriations.

The careful analysis of the Immigration Office continues, which constantly monitors the extent of the migratory phenomenon at a territorial level.
