Carlos Alcaraz’s journey in the ATP Finals underway in Turin begins in the best possible way. In fact, in the match that inaugurated the “Jimmy Connors” group and the singles tournament, the Spaniard beat the Australian Alex De Minaur 7-6(5) 6-2 in two sets in an hour and 42 minutes of play. The first set was substantially balanced, with De Minaur defending himself from a possible double break, then finding the equalizer and extending the contest to the tiebreak; here, Alcaraz found himself down at 3-5, turning everything around with four consecutive points. The second set, however, was actually without history, in which the Spaniard quickly took the lead to 4-1, even resisting the attempt to halve the opponent’s disadvantage, for whom he canceled a break point in the sixth game. In the evening, not before 8.30pm, appointment with the first match of the “Bjorn Borg” group between Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton.
