Ben Shelton wins the title at the ATP 500 in Monaco, beating the Italian Flavio Cobolli in the final with a score of 6-2, 7-5.
Uphill departure for Cobolli
The Roman tennis player started the match with difficulty, conceding two breaks in the first games which tilted the first set in favor of the American, number 6 in the world.
Second set more balanced
In the second set Cobolli raised his level, managing to stay in the game until the score was 5-5. Right at the decisive moment, however, he lost serve, allowing Shelton to close the match without reaching a tie-break.
The title for Shelton
For Shelton it is an important success on the circuit, while for Cobolli it remains a significant final in his growth path on the ATP tour.
