“Energie con il Sud” kicks off, a free three-year program that aims to create concrete training and work opportunities for 300 young people from Southern Italy in energy-related sectors. The initiative, supported by the Snam ETS Foundation and the CON IL SUD Foundation, was created with the aim of combating youth unemployment and promoting social inclusion in the most fragile areas of Southern Italy.
«Energie con il Sud aims to combat youth unemployment and promote social inclusion, involving young people and territories from the South», we read in the note announcing the launch of the project, also achieved thanks to the support of Isola Catania Impresa Sociale S. rl and Brindisi & C. ETS. The course is aimed at young NEETs, between 18 and 29 years old, residing in contexts of economic and social fragility, who will be accompanied “on a free training and job placement path”.
The program will involve a total of 300 boys and girls through an interregional model that integrates technical training, orientation, mentoring and placement. «The project is based on an innovative and replicable interregional model, with the active contribution of local communities and businesses», underline the promoters. Cooperativa Sociale Seme di Pace, Fondazione Augurusa, Consorzio Mestieri Puglia SCS and Mestieri Campania – Società Cooperativa Sociale also participate in the implementation, with a central role of local organizations.
Over the three-year period, 12 training programs will be activated, one for each territory each year, until September 2028. The activities will take place in Sicily, Puglia, Campania and Calabria, in particular in the cities of Catania, Brindisi, Portici and Vibo Valentia.
Each path includes 300 hours in two months, in hybrid mode, with practical workshops, company visits and orientation moments designed “to respond to market needs and encourage access to professions related to the energy sector”.
A sector which, according to Unioncamere-Excelsior 2025 forecasts, will be among the most dynamic in the coming years. «Hundreds of thousands of positions in the energy sector are estimated, with over 759,000 highly specialized profiles and 910,000 with advanced digital skills», highlights the press note, recalling the importance of figures capable of integrating technical and digital skills.
At the end of the training phase, the placement will begin, during which the participants will come into contact with the companies involved. “The kids will come into contact with companies thanks also to the support of local partners”, concludes the press release.
