The conditions of the 3-year-old boy who was hit by a gate in Cosenza are improving. He has been extubated and is breathing on his own. The little boy has been hospitalized since June 29th in the intensive care unit of the hospital in Cosenza. In recent days he had undergone an MRI and a CT scan. The child, in the late afternoon of Saturday 29 June, was hit by an iron gate of a beach in Guardia Piemontese, on the Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza. The iron gate collapsed – for reasons currently being investigated – overwhelming the child before the incredulous eyes of his parents and tourists present at the beach facility. Help arrived immediately and the child was rushed to the Annunziata hospital where he underwent delicate surgery during the night. The little one is monitored and followed by the doctors and all the staff of the Anesthesia and Resuscitation department. The Paola Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the case and the investigations are ongoing. The structure, as is standard practice, has been seized.
