High attention and maximum precaution for the new wave of bad weather hitting Sicily. An Atlantic storm that will bring especially strong gale force winds to the Tyrrhenian coast of the city and the province. Gusts are expected to exceed 100 km/h, with peaks over 120 km/h right on the Tyrrhenian coast between 10pm and 4am. Between Ortoliuzzo and Acqualadroni waves between 3 and 5 metres. A situation that the municipal operations center began monitoring since yesterday morning to follow the evolution of the phenomenon. Markets, villas and cemeteries closed from 12pm. Yesterday evening, the mayor of Messina decided to close the schools and signed the ordinance. Sports facilities are also closed.
The situation in the province
In Villafranca Tirrena the seafront was closed due to strong sea storms and gusts of wind with damage to the vertical signs.
Rometta, on the other hand, is affected by very strong storm surges which are causing serious problems for access to the sea, with erosion phenomena which are affecting stretches of coast that are already compromised, as well as a beach which is suffering damage. There are also critical issues with the pipelines, while the strong winds have already torn down road signs and signs. The situation is constantly monitored.
