Due to the bad weather that has been affecting the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina in the last few hours, a tarpaulin dragged by the wind ended up on the electric railway line between Patti and Gioiosa Marea, causing the interruption of train circulation on the route.
The report arrived in the afternoon, when some convoys had to stop for safety reasons. Trenitalia immediately informed passengers of the inconveniences and took the necessary measures to manage emergencies and possible delays. On site, starting from 7.30 pm, the Italian Railway Network technicians are working to remove the tarpaulin and check the integrity of the electricity line.
Only at the end of the checks will it be possible to establish the times for restoring railway circulation. In the meantime, Trenitalia invites travelers to consult the official information channels – website, app and infopoint at the station – for real-time updates on the reactivation of railway traffic.
