The group leader of the 5 Star Movement in the Regional Council Davide Tavernise, He presented a question to the president of the regional council to shed light on a situation that I consider unacceptable: the delays in the delivery of the Bimodali Blues trains. Of the 13 trains scheduled, to date, May 2025, only 7 have been delivered.
A time schedule that provided for the completion of deliveries by 2024 was completely disregarded. This situation not only creates inconvenience to citizens, but continues to slow down the development of the Calabrian Ionian area, which has long awaited infrastructure enhancement worthy of the name.
Blues trains are essential to improve the railway service along the Ionian dorsal. Their lack of use strongly penalizes the citizens of Eastern Calabria, which once again see their expectations disregarded ».
According to Tavernise «it is necessary to clarify the reasons for these delays and the responsibilities of those who have not respected the commitments made. Because of this, I asked the junta which concrete initiatives intends to undertake to accelerate the delivery of the 6 missing trains, what are the punctual motivations of these delays and if formal disputes have been activated towards Trenitalia.
In addition, I urged the Region to provide a detailed chronoprogram of the electrification works of the railway line and to publish regular updates on the progress of deliveries and the use of trains. Citizens have the right to be informed and to see their rights to mobility respected.
To this is added another crucial problem for the tourism development of the area: the urgent need to reopen the Sibari-Crotone railway line in the summerfrom June to September. This route is essential to facilitate the movements of tourists and to connect the main seaside resorts, contributing significantly to the local economy. Failure to reactivate this line represents serious damage to the tourism sector and for the image of Calabria. Therefore, I ask the Region to also include a plan for the seasonal reopening of Sibari-Crotone in the initiatives to be undertaken.
