“With the Employment Plan we have allocated almost 300 million euros to try to stem the serious problem of the emigration of our young people who train in Calabria and are forced to find work elsewhere.
With the President of the Region Roberto Occhiuto, in these years of government, we have laid the foundations to reverse this trend. Today we are starting to see the results of the actions implemented also through a series of tenders and notices published and shared with trade associations and unions. We are very encouraged by all this as well as the positive results certified in recent days by the Bank of Italy for the first half of 2025, which allow us to narrate a positive Calabria, a land of opportunities and redemption. It is not easy to make up for the many years in which young people were not thought of, nor their future was thought of. We are working, with President Occhiuto and with the Labor Department, and will continue to do so, to reverse this trend. I give as an example the important project we have started that we have called Mirai which in Japanese means, precisely, future. We are focusing a lot on the port of Gioia Tauro, an important area for the development of the Mediterranean that we want to fill with content. We have the resources and they will be used to help businesses invest and create economic development and employment. Another strong point of the Region is also the investment in training, for which we are working in contact with Calabrian schools and universities to guide our young people to understand what the job opportunities are in our region once they have finished their studies. We are committed to 360 degrees so as not to lose that human capital which is fundamental for the future of our land: Calabria must truly become an opportunity for everyone”.
This was said by the Councilor for Work and Economic Development of the Calabria Region, Giovanni Calabrese, speaking today at the event “Calabria in development. A pact for work. A shared commitment to enhance the talents of our young people”, which was held at the Palazzo di Città di San Ferdinando, promoted by the Mask Its Academy Foundation with the patronage of the Calabria Region, the Municipality of San Ferdinando, the Port System Authority of the Tyrrhenian, Southern and Southern Seas. Ionian and Confindustria Reggio Calabria.
During the initiative, the orientation and curriculum reception desk was opened, a space dedicated to students, graduates, undergraduates and graduates, designed to accompany young people in choosing the training and professional path most consistent with their aptitudes. The desk will offer information on ITS advanced training courses and will create a stable bridge between school, training and business.
ITS diplomas were also awarded to the students of the “Higher Technician of IT Services, Network and System Security” course, a symbol of the link between advanced technical training and qualified work.
Great satisfaction also for the awarding of the “San Ferdinando – Development Stars of the South” Award to Claudio Gubitosi, creator of the Giffoni Film Festival, for his extraordinary contribution to the valorization of youth talent and for having created, through the Giffoni brand, a model of cultural and social development recognized throughout the world as a symbol of innovation and pride of the South.
