Over the past ten years, pharmaceutical expenditure has risen throughout the country. According to the still partial data of AIFA, Italy only last year spent over 27 billion euros, about 6.7% more than 2023 The same document, while still taking into account the provisionality of some regional data, also evidenced by spending at the level of individual regions, with a percentage compared to individual regional health funds that varies from 9.18% of Lombardy to 13.12% of Campania. Below 10% of the FSR, in addition to Lombardy, Valle d’Aosta and Trento are also placed, while exceeding the 12% threshold, in addition to Campania, also Sardinia, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna and Abruzzo.
In Calabria the increase was more contained than 2023. The growth rate of affiliated net expenditure touched +4.0% corresponding to a disbursement greater than 10,976,661 euros. In practice, in 2024, the overall cost for the purchase of medicines paid in an agreement, incurred by the Region, from January to December, was 286,124,608 euros.
