The president of the Calabria Region Roberto Occhiuto signed the decree ratifying the appointment of the lawyer Ettore Figliolia as undersecretary to the Presidency of the Regional Council, with a technical profile.
A high institutional level profile
Figliolia, already consultant to the governor since 2022, is a cassation lawyer with long experience at the top of the State Attorney’s Office. During his career he has held leading positions, including that of Deputy State Attorney General from 2019 to 2025, after over 38 years of service.
In this role he represented the State in major disputes, including before the Constitutional Court, dealing with issues of national importance such as the division of competences between the State and the Regions, the protection of the environment and cultural heritage, concessions and competition, as well as numerous defenses before the Court of Ministers.
Experience in ministries and institutions
During his activity he also coordinated important sections of the State Attorney General’s Office, contributing to the management of strategic sectors such as the environment, economic development, internal security and territorial policies.
He has held positions of responsibility such as head of cabinet, head of legislative office, head of technical secretariat, deputy head of cabinet and legal advisor for vice-presidents of the Council, undersecretaries of the Presidency, various ministries and for the national Department of Civil Protection.
The new role in the Region
The decree provides that the undersecretary will not be paid office and function compensation, for a total of 5,350 euros per month.
Thanks to consolidated experience, Figliolia will be the representative of the Presidency of the Region in relations with the Ministries and with the Presidency of the Council, following the main dossiers opened at a national level.
In his role as consultant to President Occhiuto, his contribution has already been significant in various strategic issues, including the Abraham affair and the path to exit from the health commissioner.
