The Giro d’Italia will return to the streets of Calabria in 2026, with two stages that will bring the pink race back to the region after four years of absence. Confirmation arrived in Rome, during the presentation of the route of the 109th edition.
The first section in the area will be the Catanzaro–Cosenza race on 12 May: starting from Catanzaro Lido, crossing the capital and then heading towards the Tyrrhenian Sea, with fast sections alternating with medium intensity climbs, including the Laghicello and Crocetta passes.
The following day we will run the Praia a Mare-Potenza, an ideal stage for long distance attempts before entering Basilicata.
From a logistical point of view, a strategic role will be entrusted to Lamezia Terme airport, planned as a return hub for the teams returning from the Great Departure in Bulgaria.
