Those directly involved define it as “a stone in the pond”. Destined to stir the waters within Forza Italia as hoped by Marina and Pier Silvio Berlusconi. The protagonist is the governor Roberto Occhiuto. The appointment, as first reported by Il Fatto Quotidiano, will be on 17 December at Palazzo Grazioli, in what for a long time was the heart of Berlusconi’s epic, now home to the foreign press, for a conference with a title which is already a whole programme: “In freedom. Liberal thoughts for Italy”. Are we at the beginning of an internal current within the Azzurri led by the president of the Calabria region? Many clues suggest yes. And even if the signature of the initiative is Andrea Ruggeri, former FI deputy, several of the protagonists revolve around the figure of Occhiuto. Starting from the Calabrian coordinator of the party, Francesco Cannizzaro, up to the current president of Banca Monte dei Paschi – Nicola Maione from Lamezia -, to the Mediaset host Nicola Porro and to the CEO of Tim, Pietro Labriola.
The event is intended to mark the birth of a liberal area on the issues of civil rights, economics and justice.
