Calabria slow on renewables: 18% of the 2030 target achieved

The president of Confindustria, Emanuele Orsini, reignited the debate a few days ago: «Calabria isn’t doing its homework». A direct thrust, arrived in reference to the commitment made by the Region regarding renewables and the achievement of the targets assigned to the Regions by the ministerial decree on eligible areas. Yesterday Il Sole 24 Ore, in an extensive report, highlighted how the race towards 2030 is proceeding very slowly.
The council led by Roberto Occhiuto has a double challenge ahead of it: accompanying photovoltaic, wind, hydroelectric, biomass and storage; avoid an authorization jungle of immature projects, disputes, local opposition, constraints and titles obtained more to resell than to build. The Region aims to strengthen the connection with Terna, the distributor, the Ministry of the Environment and GSE. The objective is an integrated information system, to unite authorized plants, accumulations, projects and suitable areas: fewer projects in the dark, more coherent localizations, fewer conflicts. In short, rationalize to avoid bottlenecks.
