Over 7.9 million euros to support the study of foreign languages through experiences abroad. The Calabria Region has approved the final ranking of the public notice “Improvement of linguistic skills”: 83 projects have been accepted for funding, with a total recognizable contribution of 7,969,442 euros out of a budget of 8 million.

The measure, financed under the Pr Calabria Fesr ESF+ 2021-2027, is aimed at Calabrian state educational institutions and supports transnational mobility paths lasting two or three weeks. The objective is to strengthen students’ preparation and encourage the achievement of certifications recognized according to the Common European Framework of Reference for the knowledge of languages, the CEFR.

Among the recipients are also third year old students

One of the new features is the inclusion of third year classes of lower secondary schools, alongside high school students. International training opportunities are thus also extended to children preparing to choose their next school path.

“With the approval of the final ranking, we give substance to an intervention that puts Calabrian students and their future at the centre”, declares the regional councilor for Education, Eulalia Micheli. The expansion of the audience, he underlines, allows students to be accompanied in a significant phase of their education.

Support for families for international experiences

The call also aims to make training stays more accessible which can involve a significant financial commitment for families. The activities will allow participants to put into practice what they have learned in the classroom, deal with different cultures and develop autonomy.

«A study experience abroad can represent a precious growth opportunity, but also an important economic commitment», observes Micheli. «Through this intervention we intend to expand the possibilities for Calabrian students to access qualifying courses, enhancing the role of the school and promoting wider access to training opportunities».

With the approval of the final results, the phase of the necessary formalities for signing the agreements with the beneficiary educational institutions now begins, which will be followed by the implementation of the projects.
