Great organizational and public success for the first Città di Africo boxing trophy organized by the Pugilistic Academy of the Strait of Fedele & Natoli directed by the president Angelo Trimboli with the patronage of the Pro Loco and the municipality of Africo directed by the mayor Domenico Modaffari. Calabria beats Puglia 7 to 1 with 6 splendid victories for the Calabrian-Sicilian team.
The task of opening the evening falls to Manuel Milano who, opposite Samuele Del Gaudio from Taranto, manages the match very well, winning all the rounds, followed by Gabriele Malerba who overtakes Jacopo Greco from Lecce on points, making excellent use of the greater advantage, winning the match on points. The third athlete from the Accademia Pugilistica dello Strait to enter the ring is Andrea Zungri from Gioia who beat Francesco Pio Boccasini from Taranto on points. After losing the first round, the Calabrian boxer changed pace and tactics by winning the last two rounds, clinching the victory.
The fourth success for the team from Reggio sees the highly anticipated competitive debut of the very young Nicholas Sciacqua, just 13 years old, who fought against Andrea Virgulto from Lecce. Despite his age and a lot of experience in favor of the Apulian, the pupil from Reggio immediately attacked his good opponent, winning all three rounds, winning the match on points. Followed by Francesco Natoli who, after a somewhat slow start, came out great in the last two rounds, winning the match on points, demonstrating great technical-tactical improvements and above all great personality against a high-level opponent.
The seventh match saw in the ring the ASD boxer Luigi Coluccio Danilo Kononenko against the Tarantino Riccardo Iacca who played a hard-fought and balanced match which ended with a draw verdict allowing Puglia to win its first point. For the highlight match of the evening, Francesco Tyson Ciccone and the Potentino Leutcha Kameni KD entered the ring, two very physically strong fighters. Ciccone played a very tactical and intelligent match, avoiding the Apulian’s dangerous hooks, but when it was necessary to use force he did so masterfully, landing his opponent with a powerful left hook in the second round. Francesco managed all three rounds excellently, thus winning his seventh consecutive elite match. Now for him a few days of rest and then preparation begins for the final phase of the Italian elite championships which will take place in Trieste and will see the 8 best Italian boxers at work.
President Angelo Trimboli was very satisfied and complimented all the boys and their technicians (Giuseppe Fedele, Alfredo Natoli and Giovanni Tomasello) for the excellent work they did with these very young athletes.
