Patience is over. After more than 24 hours of blackout which left the town of Piano di Rollo in the dark and cold, the Mayor of Capistrano, Marco Pio Martino, issues a very harsh ultimatum to E-Distribuzione: either the service is restored immediately, or the matter will end up on the table of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Heating emergency: families in the cold
The fault, triggered by bad weather yesterday afternoon, is causing huge inconvenience to the population. In a period characterized by cold temperatures, the lack of electricity means, for many families, the impossibility of operating fireplaces and heating systems.
“The bitterness of having several families without the possibility of heating remains,” declared the mayor, underlining how the inefficiency is aggravated by the inclement climate which makes the situation unsustainable.
The rubber wall of call centers
In his harsh outburst, Mayor Martino points the finger at the inefficiency of the electricity operator’s assistance service. Despite dozens of reports and reminders from both citizens and the administration, the situation remained frozen for an entire day. “No reassurance and above all no news that we can give to interested fellow citizens,” attacks the Mayor. “Only call centers and jingles that invite you to type key 1 or key 2, or promises to forward reports which are followed by no intervention. An endless shame for a negligent service like never before.”
Legal battle ready
For the Mayor of Capistrano it is no longer just a technical failure, but a “poor and uninterested” management towards users. For this reason, Martino has already informed his lawyers to prepare a lawsuit against E-Distribuzione.
“If within a few hours the fault persists without any outcome, we will proceed through legal action,” concludes Martino. “We will continue to monitor, but know that without decisive interventions it will soon be a battle.”
