Fear this afternoon in Crotone, in Piazza Alcide De Gasperi, where around 1.30pm a car caught fire while it was driving.

The intervention of the firefighters

A fire brigade team from the Crotone command intervened on site and put out the flames that broke out from a Fiat Punto powered by petrol and LPG. The particularly delicate intervention prevented the fire – which started from the engine compartment – from spreading to the rear part of the vehicle, where the gas tank is located, thus avoiding a possible explosion.

Driver uninjured

An elderly man from Crotone was driving, who managed to stop the vehicle and save himself before the flames engulfed the bonnet. The causes of the fire are still being investigated. The timely intervention of the firefighters prevented much more serious consequences.
