The abolition of car tax becomes a national reform. CNA Calabria is asking the Government and Parliament following the favorable opinion expressed by President Occhiuto on the request already made by MEP Tridico during the last regional election campaign.

“If the technical and financial conditions exist – states the president of CNA Calabria Giovanni Cugliari – this proposal must be seriously studied and transformed into a national reform. It would be a concrete signal of closeness to families and the Italian production system”.

Concrete support for workers and businesses

“It is – he continues – one of the most contested taxes by citizens and businesses. For thousands of artisans, traders, professionals and small entrepreneurs, the car is not a luxury good, but an indispensable tool for working. In Calabria, where private transport is often a necessity, the car tax is added to increasingly higher fuel, insurance, maintenance and energy costs. Any proposal that lightens this burden deserves attention and in-depth analysis”.

Beyond political color: towards institutional maturity

CNA Calabria hopes that the discussion launched in these hours can be transformed into a concrete legislative path, capable of producing real benefits for millions of motorists, families and small and medium-sized Italian businesses. At the same time, the Artisans Confederation is keen to underline how the topic goes beyond the political dispute and opens up a broader reflection on the relationship between institutions, businesses and citizens.

«Too often – declares Cugliari – we witness a policy that rejects a proposal just because it comes from a different side. In this case the opposite happens. A proposal put forward during the electoral campaign is today relaunched by those who belong to another political area. It is a fact that deserves respect because it demonstrates institutional maturity.”

«The great intelligence of politics – he concludes – consists in the eclecticism in recognizing the value of ideas regardless of who proposes them. Good ideas have no political color. They have a social utility. When a proposal is useful to families, workers and businesses, the institutions’ task is to study it further and transform it into law.”
