Catania will present the expression of interest in the capital of culture 2028. The junta, chaired by the mayor Enrico Trantinoapproved the act of address that launches the path for the presentation of the candidacy of the city to the capital of culture in 2028, according to the methods indicated by the Ministry decree. There will be time until September 25 to build the dossier, which will have to describe the strategy, partnerships, the initiatives to be put in place to convince the jury. In the deed of address there are the elements for a participatory and shared path, to which a team of professionals will also have to work, with specific experience, to “accompany” Catania first of all towards the rose of the ten finalist cities and the final auditions.
The deed also identifies the control room that will follow and coordinate every aspect of the construction of the dossier. “We wanted to bet, well in advance – said the mayor Enrico Tranino – to build a strong candidacy, in which to involve all the best forces of this city and not only in the cultural field. Our idea of Catania capital of culture is certainly linked to what history, culture and nature have generously donated us, including men and women who have honored their being from Catania, but must be projected into the future, focusing on innovation, digital revolution, sustainable mobility. Our “capital” will have to be identity, inclusive, open, modern and dynamic: we have all the requirements to make it.
All this – added Tranino – is in the genetic, millennial, of the city and Sicily heritage, as much as museums, theaters, signs and appearances of the past, desire to look to the future, we will only have to demonstrate that we are worthy of it. We know we have history, potential and human resources to cross the obstacles that stand, including some tenacious prejudice, but we must have maturity and foresight to run, overwhelming one goal at a time. From today begins a phase of listening and activities aimed at the objective – continued the first citizen of Catania – and all the projects of our administration, in an interdisciplinary perspective they will mainly be aimed at strengthening our candidacy, aware how long the road is and is worth it. We know the critical issues of our city for which we are busy minute by minute to improve it ».
