The State Police arrested a man residing in the Neapolitan, seriously suspended of having scored a scam against two elderly people with the tested stratagem of the fake employee of the post office.
The arrest took yesterday morning, when the Catanzaro mobile team, with the support of colleagues from the Naples mobile team and the Giugliano Commissariat in Campania, carried out a precautionary order issued by the Court of Catanzaro – second criminal section, at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, the facts traced back to November 2023 Trusting in the good faith of man, the victims had given him cash and jewels for a value of several thousand euros.
The investigations, still in the preliminary phase and subject to the procedural verification in the contradictory with the defense, led to outline a circumstantial framework deemed serious by the investigators, such as to justify the application of the measure of house arrest.
The operation is part of the wider commitment of the State Police in the fight against scams against the weakest bands of the population, in particular the elderly, often target of increasingly sophisticated scams.
