Ninety minutes to chase a difficult but still possible dream. Catanzaro is preparing for the second leg of the playoffs on the Monza pitch, scheduled for tomorrow evening at 8pm, with the aim of overturning the 2-0 they suffered in the first leg and continuing to chase promotion to Serie A.
To achieve this, a real feat will be needed: the Giallorossi will need a three-goal difference in regular time against a team built to move up the category. Despite the result of the first leg, the group led by Alberto Aquilani wants to play their chances to the end.
Aquilani: “We didn’t deserve such a heavy deficit”
«There is a bit of bitterness about how last Sunday’s match went – declared Aquilani – but it is not time to look back. We need to focus on the new race straight away because we will have another chance. We owe it to ourselves and to our fans.”
The Giallorossi coach is convinced that the team has shown that it can compete. «From what we saw on the pitch we didn’t deserve such a large deficit. We lacked a bit of cynicism, but we know we are a strong team and that we have the weapons to try.”
Iemmello leads the chase
Catanzaro continued to work intensely in view of the trip to Lombardy, with Pietro Iemmello ready to lead the group in the challenge that can still keep alive the hope of a promotion that has been missing for over forty years.
Aquilani seems oriented towards deploying an offensive formation without giving up balance. «We will try to play the game as always, trying to score, but we will also have to be very careful not to give away space. We will need a serious and clear-headed match”, concluded the coach.
