Galleria Mancuso was the subject of new acts of vandalism last night. The Catanzaro city councilor announced this Daniela Palaia specifying that “the damage concerned the new furnishings, still being installed, and the walls, which were smeared with various writings. The gallery – he adds – is equipped with video surveillance cameras, the videos of which will be examined by investigators after the timely complaint presented by the company in charge of the redevelopment works of the spaces. However – Palaia continues – we cannot ignore the odiousness of the new episode, after the one in recent days against the FdI headquarters, and the discouragement that assails in having to acknowledge that there is a part of the city, however marginal and limited, which thus reacts towards common goods and the work that is done to improve them and return them to the enjoyment of the community. Such an enormous lack of civic sense – continues the councilor – not only makes our work as administrators particularly difficult but above allor questions us, us and all institutional levels, about these forms of social hardship, about this lack of values, which appear unreal to us every time but are part of everyday life and deserve rigorous reflectionbecause if repressing crimes is a duty, it is equally necessary to do everything possible to prevent them. As far as we are concerned – concludes Palaia – we have already instructed the company to proceed with the repair of minor damages. We will continue without any hesitation in the redevelopment work which will have to return Galleria Mancuso to the full usability of citizens and we ask the latter to also pay as much attention as possible to the protection of interests that concern us all without distinction”.
