Catanzaro, new arrival in the running-in phase. Fiorita grants “a couple of weeks”

“A couple of weeks at most.” This is the duration of the “brief run-in” granted to the new municipal councilors by the mayor Nicola Fiorita. It was the mayor of the regional capital himself, in his now usual Sunday reflection on social networks, who gave a defined time horizon to the necessary phase of reconnaissance and in-depth analysis to which at least five of his six new delegates (Pasquale Squillace, as former head of the Mayor’s Cabinet, will not need to be tested) will have to follow up in these days.
Fiorita’s act can also be considered an act of a political-administrative nature: in him and in his entire majority there is a strong awareness that political horizons are particularly changeable, especially when local ones fit into or depend on regional or national issues. Thus, accelerating now that the new composition of the majority seems to ensure a bit of serenity becomes essential to arrive more solidly and structured at the periods in which they will arrive – because yes, they will arrive – broadsides from the outside that will threaten to destabilize the administration.
In the recipe for the political-institutional strengthening of the majority in the Municipality, therefore, an abundant pinch of ability to build a more solid relationship with the citizens cannot be missing. The council reshuffles that marked the first twenty-six months of administration affected two strategic and characterizing sectors of political action on the territory and on which citizens have always had a particular sensitivity: social policies and the environment, the latter to be understood as care of greenery, hygiene and cleanliness of the territory and waste collection. Fiorita, in the composition of the new council, intended to oppose the discontinuity of administrative action determined by the changes of councilor in these two areas by making indicative and clear choices. On the one hand he entrusted Nunzio Belcaro with social policies, thus giving a necessary area characterization to what will be the administrative approach to the topic from now on; on the other hand, he entrusted himself to a technician, Irene Colosimo, chosen on the recommendation of the dem, to attack the environmental issue with a pragmatic and operational approach. As has been the case over the last twenty years, these will above all be the sectors in which the administration will decide on the construction or destruction of the relationship with the citizens.
