After relaunching the proposal for the reactivation of the degree course in Veterinary Medicine at the UMG of Catanzaro, the regional councilor in recent days Antonello Talerico he met The rector Cuda and he had a comparison later also with the president Roberto Occhiutowhich has made itself absolutely available to support the UMG University to reactivate the course and for the identification/opening (condition also requested by Anvur) of a Hospital Hub of Veterinary Medicine.
During a public meeting, the councilor explained that in order to reactivate the degree course in Veterinary Medicine at the UMG, it is first of all that the Catanzaro University is immediately activated to overcome the critical issues raised by Anvur and that a structure to be allocated to the hospital of Veterinary Medicine is identified (on this point there is the political will of the region to make this investment).
In essence – continues Talerico – it is necessary to start immediately with an action plan based on eight decisive pillars, which require the commitment of UMG and the Calabria Region and, in particular:
1. Immediate constitution of an operational task force with real powers.
- Joint action: Establish Task force dedicated (with a university coordinator, endowed with clear and defined powers, a delegate of the rector with decision -making authorities on resources, a representative of the President of the Calabria Region) at the head of a Interdisciplinary team with academic, technical, legal and management skills.
- Output: Formal joint decree/university, with roles and traceable responsibilities.
2
- Joint action: Sign a formal and binding programmatic agreement that defines the financial commitment of the region (also through EU funds) and a certain time chronoprogram for the realization of the Ogu.
- Provide the financial and design guarantee for the cornerstone infrastructure of the course, resolving the critical issues (updated project, realistic chronoprogram, covered financial plan).
3. Immediate structures and strategic partnerships (teaching conventions and internships).
- University Action (with Region Support for Conventions): Cantiere/
immediately dedicate provisional structures but appropriate to startup of the first two years of the CDS (classrooms, skill lab, anatomy/pathological anatomy – without subordinating the activation of the course upon completion of the OVU). - University action: Recruit format tutors and activate specific training conventions for veterinary medicine (e.g. with IZS, private clinics, zootechnical companies, transformation companies – production chains). Start the basic teaching in a short time and ensure internships of excellence.
4. Recruitment plan (teachers and technicians) of quality and sustainable:
- University action: Three -year plans for teaching and technical staff, with multi -year financial coverage (figures with clinical experience and commitment on practical teaching).
- Build a high -profile teaching staff and technician, essential for accreditation and quality.
5
- CDS regulation, bilingual Syllabus, internship logbooks: all in accordance with Eaeve.
6. Permanent institutional synergy (institutional and professional stakeholders).
- Joint action: establishment of a Permanent address committee with the Region (key councilors), Ministry of Health and Ministry University, Fnovi, Orders, Izs, Companies for Technical supports and resources.
Guarantee the alignment of the course to international, national standards and the needs of the territory.
7. Solid, marked, covered financial plan
- Joint action: detailed picture of costs for Ovu, teaching, staff, operation.
- Financing sources: University, Calabria Region (co -financing), Mur, European funds.
- Region-University agreement essential for unlocking and planning funds.
8. Realistic timing and accreditation milestone
- Joint action: New Anvur proposal in 18-24 months with rigorous internal revision before submission.
In conclusion It is a plan that requires a strong political will, a concrete financial commitment and full institutional collaboration.
The reactivation of veterinary medicine is a strategic investment for animal health, the economic development and the prestige of Calabria, also as a reference hospital hub for the entire south capable of having an economic and higher development impact in some respects also to the activation of any other degree course and, this because the numbers and data of the users (companies and private individuals) both as active mobility that would pass that would result in any other operation, Apart from the training and research activities that would make our UMG among the most attractive in this segment (few veterinary hospitals active in Italy).
