It begins with the “Dance Festival” The October 19th which offers a real tribute to ballet in its most varied forms: it will begin with an open lesson with a great figure from the world of dance – whose name will be announced in the next few days -, to continue, in the cloister of the San Giovanni complex (specially transformed by light and laser games into a futuristic container), with the national premiere of the contemporary dance show “Plus ultra. Beyond the myth” by the company Ocram.
The day will close in the evening, at Politeama TheatreThe Southern Ballet which will bring on stage the grandiose staging of “Parisian Gaité”, co-produced by the Autumn Festival to pay homage to the golden age of Paris, the Belle Èpoque. On stage, a sparkling show with wild can-cans, rhythmic polkas, mazurkas and whirling waltzes, with tableaux vivants brought on stage by an ensemble of 22 dancers, chanteuses, actresses, dancers and acrobats, who will recreate the Paris of the early twentieth century, a golden age during which it was the absolute capital of culture and high society. An unmissable show for the sparkling music of Offenbach, the wonderful costumes of the period faithfully reproduced, the rich scenography that revives the climate, the vivacity, the euphoria of the time, to recover and restore a heritage of beauty. The choreographer of the show Fredy Franzutti will meet, always at the Politeama, dancers and spectators before the show to discuss with them the majestic work that will be staged shortly and answer the students’ questions, from the height of his international experience that has led him to collaborate with the most important companies and theaters throughout the world.
The October 26th it will be the theatre’s turn with “Between support and passion”: the first appointment is “March 4, 1943… Lucio Dalla”, at the Marca Museum with Caesar Bocci And the Mercadante Orchestra, inspired by a symbolic figure of the Italian songwriting whose lyrics have profoundly contributed to its renewal. Following at the Politeama Theatre there will be the long-awaited appointment with the journalist Federico Buffathe inventor of sports storytelling, who with “The football milonga”, thanks to the interventions of Alessandro Nidi on the piano and Mascia Foschi on singing, will tell the stories of the most famous Argentine footballers in the world: Renato Cesarini, Omar Sivoriand of course, Diego Armando Maradona.
«Dance and theatre will be the protagonists of these unique days that will make the spectators of the Autumn Festival experience strong and engaging emotions. – said director Santacroce – The possibility of following a structured path, starting from the open dance lesson that for the first time in Calabria will allow dancers of heterogeneous origins to meet and compare themselves, participating in live shows of contemporary and classical dance, will bring a new and varied audience to the city. Just as will happen for the day dedicated to the theater, which will bring on stage symbolic figures of Western culture: the inimitable Lucio Dalla and the greats of Argentine soccer, with Maradona at the center, protagonist of the show by Federico Buffa. The symbolic places of Catanzaro will have new life thanks to these events that will involve a different target audience, with appointments also for those who do not usually go to the theater, in the perspective of the expansion of the audience pursued by the Autumn Festival».
