Private violence, threats and personal injuries. The preliminary hearing judge of the Court of Catanzaro has committed a family of entrepreneurs, Gennaro Giglio, Angela De Feo and their son Michele Giglio, to trial, following the request of the Catanzaro Public Prosecutor’s Office in recent days. The investigation by the Catanzaro Prosecutor’s Office started from what happened on the evening of June 3rd in an elegant restaurant in the Lido district. The premises’ surveillance cameras recorded the attack on a waiter, who was hit with a punch and a slap which caused facial trauma which could be healed in ten days. After that attack the victim (assisted by the lawyer Giancarlo Pitaro) filed a formal complaint. He told the Carabinieri investigators that he had worked in the past in the restaurant managed by the entrepreneurs’ son.
The working relationships had broken down due to non-payment of salaries, which is why he had taken civil action. From that moment, he had it recorded, a series of intimidations began to force him not to file for bankruptcy (the judicial liquidation procedure was started just last July). The former employee said he was followed, even threatened on social media and on one occasion his former employer spat on him. A crescendo of episodes that led the victim to live in a perpetual state of anxiety, so much so that he turned to a specialist. The former employee also underlined that he lived in terror because his brother had also been attacked months earlier (an episode regularly reported).
But the story appears connected to another episode which has the same entrepreneurs as protagonists. In fact, the owner of a restaurant reported them for threats. He claimed to have been approached by the suspects who ordered him not to hire four of their former employees (including the victim of the attack). The request, the restaurateur explained to the police, was accompanied by the veiled threat of being able to close the place given the important friendships, even of a political nature, that they could have activated. Attached to the request for indictment are the testimonies of some people informed about the facts and the telephone calls between the restaurateur and one of the people under investigation.
